Wow. Wow. An amazing, stunning, glorious, beautiful, wondrous, jaw dropping backpacking trip. We flew into Vegas and enjoyed a nice Mexican meal before calling it a night. An early departure took us on the road to Zion National Park, Kolob Canyon. Sam, Ana, Richard, Caileen, Lynda, Annette and Coral headed out on the La Verkin Creek Trail with packs on. Within 10 minutes on the trail, our vision was experiencing some amazing scenery. So massive, so unique, and so spectacular. After a long hike, we settled in at our group campsite, which was next to the fresh full water of La Verkin Creek. We hung our flag and set up camp. The evening hours brought us the delight of a full moon as it made it's way over the mountains, displaying a spotlight approach on the side of the mountain in our campsite. Wow. Wow. We all slept in and then packed up some food in our day packs and headed out hiking to find Kolob Arch. The hike took us along the creek, over rocks and under trees. After finding the Arch and stopping for lunch, we continue on to find the waterfall near Beartrap Canyon. The mom's were getting tired and decided to head back, while the youngins continued on and located the waterfall. The late afternoon was enjoyed with beverages and appetizers, clean up at the creek and telling stories about the day. We played scattergories and Caileen won. We all got up very early and enjoyed coffee under the full moon and stars glowing in the sky. Simply awesome. We packed up and headed out on the trail before the sun came up. So beautiful to hike early in the morning. We headed to the southern end of Zion National Park and enjoyed a great meal of burgers, fries, onion rings, salads and beer. Perfect. We settled in our hotels and after cleaning up a bit and resting, we all enjoyed some wine and appetizers by the pool before going to dinner. Another early morning as we made our way on the shuttle to the Narrows. Wow. Wow. We hiked the Narrows and were so lucky that we had the Virgin River all to ourselves. Hiking and exploring in amazement. Another great meal and we were off on the road to catch our flights home. Five star backpacking trip and great company! Total miles: approximately 26 PACK IT!
