Gave Up Our Sleeping Bags for a Bed!
January 15 - 20, 2019
Hidden Beach, Aptos
After a stop at Kinders deli in Hercules for huge sandwiches, Coral and
Stacie headed for Aptos. Even with a storm forecast, the mood was high.
Several hours of rainy driving and we arrived at the beach house. Stacie got
a puzzle started while Coral did a little work. Dinner was hot soup, which hit
the spot. Wednesday morning, bright and early, Coral saw a break in the
storm and got us going for a walk on the beach. It was a nice refreshing 4+
miles and not a drop of rain! Back to the house for lunch and more puzzle
solving. Stacie busied herself with watching "the making of a murderer" on
Netflix while Coral worked. We enjoyed a fire and watched our favorite show
"This is Us" and Coral learned that she has to pause it if she is going to talk
during Stacie's show. Thursday brought more rain, but a break in the
weather let us walk the beach during low tide. The sea was very very angry
due to the storm, and low tide became a high tide. We walked down to the
cement ship and went to the museum. Very interesting local history. Stacie
found a little green army man in the sand and stuck it in her pocket. Another
5 miles of beach walking in the books. We had a quick dinner then treated
ourselves to a movie in Capitola. Popcorn and an ice cream later, and we were
back home in our toasty beds. Friday morning we awoke to an almost clear
sky and anticipated another beach walk. It was warm enough that we did not
need our jackets and walked 5.7 miles! Oddly enough, we walked in the
opposite direction from the day before and Coral found a little green army
man in the sand. She stuck it in her pocket. We now had our army for the
fight ahead. Also finished the puzzle then had a great dinner of chicken and
salad. Woke up Saturday to beautiful blue skies. Stacie relaxed on the
sofa watching more Making of a Murderer while Coral got more work done.
We then packed up some snacks and headed to the beach. Coral got another
walk in, while Stacie relaxed with her book. Yes, Stacie has been relaxing a
lot and well deserved. Back at the house, we made a cocktail to go and
headed to Seacliff for the sunset. A full moon surprised us and we graced in
the beauty of the sun setting over the sea. Next stop, Manuels for a great
Mexican dinner. Gregorio took care of us! Sunday morning and time to
depart the beach house. Until next time... We didn't get to Aptos with packs
on our backs, but it was the same fun trip, lots of walking, talking, eating
and laughing.
This trip will hold us over until the next time we get to Pack It!
