What a wonderful start to 2016 - Packing It to Wildcat!
Anna, Christina and Coral headed out early Saturday morning along the Bear Valley Trail under sunny skies. Our path was surrounded by vibrant greenery thanks to the recent rains. This was Christina's first journey to Wildcat and Anna and Coral were certain she would fall in love with the environment. Breathtaking, energizing, and surreal. Arriving at the top of Stewart Road, we had our first encounter with nature.... a sleeping owl on the side of the trail. Unbelievable and amazing! We descended down the road to camp site #5 and quickly set up our tents. We walked to the beach to explore and were surprised to see smooth flat sand and no fire pit! The recent storm washed everything clean, but there was plenty of wood left behind. We got busy building our own fire pit and gathering wood. A beach fire was a must!! We headed back to our campsite and enjoyed happy hour before returning to the beach to watch the sunset and enjoy our beach fire. We relaxed around the warm fire for about 3 hours! The sky was clear and the starts were wonderful to see. It was late when we returned to camp and shared a buffet of rice, soup and sweet and sour pork. Yum. Sunday morning we awoke to sunny skies and took delight in hot coffee at the Cliff Coffee Cafe! We journeyed off to Alamere falls, dodging the high tide along the way. We Packed It up and headed out after lunch. The best 30 hours ever! Miles hiked: 15
