FRENCH'S LEDGES ~ New Hampshire
While visiting Dan and Mary in Lebanon, New Hampshire, we took a day hike (no pack-it status) to French's Ledges. The red-blazed French’s Ledges Trail ends at the bald top of French's Ledges, where we took in spectacular 360-degree views of Croydon and Grantham Mountains, Mt. Ascutney, and the village of Meriden. We came across a porcupine on the trail who scurried up a tree after hearing our voices. Part of the trail had remnants of an old ski lift and a lift shack where ski team students from the Kimball Union Academy (prep boarding school) use to train. We also came across a vintage pick-up truck in the middle of the Forrest. Great day of hiking - and so far, far away.
