Mendocino Grove Oct. 15 - 17
No Tent Packed
Mark and Coral jumped in the car early Friday morning and headed to Mendocino Gove for the weekend to celebrate our 33 years together. We didn't pack our tent, nor our backpacks. We grabbed our boots, some cheese, fruit and crackers and hit the road for an adventure. We grabbed a Starbuck's coffee in Petaluma and stopped for lunch in Boonville. We then drove into Mendocino and toured the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens - Spectacular! After spending 2 hours touring the garden, we parked along the coast and enjoyed a short walk along the bluff to Glass Beach. Glass Beach is amazing. We found a little cove, which was completed covered in seagrass. No sand, just colorful glass. We were in awe.
Next stop: our amazing Yurt at Mendocino Grove. Simply amazing, top notch, all out, incredible yurt. Lucky us, we got a premium site and had an ocean view. Heated mattress, down comforter and pillows, lights, leather chairs on our rear deck overlooking the sea and a fire pit. Nestled in the woods and very private. Complete luxury outdoors. The Grove served us dinner in the commons area and we hung out on a picnic table, enjoyed live music and a wonderful meal. After returning to our Yurt, we enjoyed a fire on our rear deck and played some Monopoly Deal. Such a fantastic day! Saturday we hiked and enjoyed a nice lunch sitting on a log at the beach. We walked around the charming town of Mendocino, explored and visited the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse. Dinner was spent outdoors on the Noyo harbor in Fort Bragg with clam chowder and fish. The weekend weather was 73 degrees, which made for a perfect weekend. Our new hidden gem.
