Pleasant Camp

Pack It
The adventure begins.... Lynda, Erik, Anna, Dawn, Nick, Mark and Coral all met up at Pleasant Camp, on the other side of Loon Lake. Mark and Nick left Thursday with the boat and luxury camping amenities to secure a campsite. Anna also left Thursday, planning on backpacking in, but they ran into each other at Ice House Store. That being said, Anna took the boat taxi with Mark and Nick to Pleasant Camp. They landed on a large private campsite on a peninsula surrounded by water, simply beautiful. Friday morning, Mark met the rest of us at the boat ramp to pick up another ice chest, and Lynda and Erik decided to throw their backpacks into the boat as well, We then headed out on Loon Lake Trail, about a 5 mile hike to Pleasant Camp. Dawn and Coral carried their backpacks, minus a tent and food. A light pack on the trail was easy! Dawn in the lead, we came across a very large rattlesnake crossing the trail. A photo was a must! The rest of the trail was awesome and very well maintained. Many improvements were completed on the trail last fall and the installation of bathrooms at Pleasant Camp. We arrived at camp and the girls all decided to take a swim and the guys went out on the boat hunting. We enjoyed sitting on the beautiful rock formations, drinking wine and chatting. With no fish, we spent the afternoon sipping fresh lemon drops, courtesy of Nick, and played scattergories. Laughter and creativity was on board. The air was a little smoky due to all the California fires. After a BBQ dinner and shooing off the flying camp mates, we settled in for the night. We woke to heavy smoke in the air and contemplated whether we should pack up while Nick and Dawn went for a hike to Buck lake. We all decided it was time to go as the air quality was not getting better. We packed up and made several trips in the boat taxi across the lake as none of us wanted to hike out in the smoky air. A quick camp/backpack trip controlled my nature, but being with good friends made it a fun getaway.
