Culbertson Lake / June 11 - 13, 2021
Ladies on Foot
Our trip began after meeting Anna at the Highway 20 exit (she drove from Bellevue to PACK-IT). Arriving at the Lindsey Lake parking lot, Anna presented all of us (Christina, Lara and Coral) with four purple balloons in memory of Beautiful Stacie. Anna, Coral and Stacie hiked this trail in June, 2018, just months before Stacie's cancer diagnose. It was the last hike Anna was with Stacie and Anna's wonderful soul brought Stacie on this journey with us. Just before getting on the trail, Stacie's spirit snagged one of the balloons and took off, landing in the tall tree branches way above us. She was watching over us.
We pack-it into Culbertson Lake once again. It was a beautiful morning and we got to our campsite in no time. Packs dropped in the dirt and it was tequila for everyone. This has come to be a tradition if you are hiking with the Van Leeuwen twins. After setting up camp, we explored the lake, had some lunch and settled in. Anna grilled us some fabulous beef patties for dinner and we had a buffet to include grilled veggies and mashed potatoes. Christina graced us with an awesome campfire and grand black licorice. Saturday we hiked to Upper and Lower Rock Lakes and Anna and Christina enjoyed swimming before we all had lunch on Upper Rock Lake. After returning from our hike, it was time for all of us to dive into Culbertson Lake. So refreshing, so beautiful.
Happy Hour began about 4:00 and we enjoyed appetizers, wine and some more tequila. We played rummy while enjoying our lake front campsite. Another fabulous dinner of potatoes, rice and chicken, cookies and more black licorice. The fire was roaring and the wine was being poured. Such a fun ladies getaway - filled with laughter, stories, advice, meditation and sharing. Sunday morning we enjoyed coffee by the fire before packing it up.
