Stony Ridge Lake
Desolation Wilderness
Erik, Lynda, Mark and Coral had an awesome weekend backpacking along the Tahoe Yosemite Trail. We met at Meeks Bay trail head and began our hike toward Lake Genevieve, which was about 5.25 miles. We stopped, took off our packs and enjoyed lunch next to the beautiful lake. Soon we were back on the trail headed towards Stony Ridge Lake. The trail was a gradual incline, which took us past Crag Lake, Shadow Lake, Hidden Lake, which can be seen from a distance, and finally Stony Ridge Lake. We found the best camp site at the south end of Stony Lake. After setting up our tents, Mark and Erik built a "dining table" out of granite rock and moved a large log for extra seating. It was perfect for cooking and playing cards! Saturday Mark fished (no catch) and the rest of us hiked past Rubicon Lake to a granite look out, where you can see Grouse Lakes. Spectacular views. Evening hours were spent playing cards, enjoying appetizers, wine and sipping premium tequila. A few big laughs were had by all as the weather got colder and we all bundled up with jackets, hats and gloves. Sunday was a beautiful sunny morning and we took our time packing up camp. We made our way back to Meeks Bay and stopped at Bridgetender Tavern and Grill for cheeseburgers and fries. Always a must! 20 miles traveled.
