WILDCAT Sept. 23 - 24, 2022
A special trip to Wildcat for Amy and Coral. Amy, wearing her mother Stacie's gear, decided it was time for her to explore the wonders of backpacking for her first time. Our packs weighed in at about 32 lbs. each, including a wood plaque made by dear friends Anna and Christina in memory of Stacie. Wildcat was one of Stacie's favorite backpacking destinations and Amy wanted to find out why. It was a beautiful sunny day and Wildcat went all out to welcome Amy. After hiking the 6.4 miles to our #5 campsite, we dropped our packs and enjoyed Empress 1908 Indigo (purple) Gin with tonic in celebration of Stacie's life. Purple was Stacie's favorite color. We then headed to the beach to take in the warm sun and pristine sandy beach. We gathered wood and made a fire pit. After setting up camp, we made dinner to go and headed back to the beach. We were blessed with an Incredible sunset, amazing stars and a perfect fire. Lots of talks, laughter and some black box Cabernet Sauvignon wine. A full-bodied taste with enticing aromas of black currant, toasty oak and a hint of vanilla. It went perfect with our beach fire. On our way back to camp, a deer family crossed our path. An amazing sight. The next morning we enjoyed coffee at the one and only Cliff Coffee Cafe. We then headed back to the beach for a long stroll along the secluded shoreline. An oatmeal breakfast was enjoyed and then we packed up and headed out on that famous Stewart Road trail. With 750 elevation gain in 1.5 miles, Amy realize how strong her mother was. It was a spectacular 24 hours. We grabbed lunch at the Marin French Cheese Company and headed home. Tired feet, sore calves and happy faces.
