UPPER ROCK LAKE

Embrace The Journey Ahead
Remember Why You Started
Stacie, Dawn, Anna and Coral joined forces for a backpacking adventure to Upper Rock Lake. We began our hike at the Lindsay Lakes campground in Nevada County. We hiked passed Culbertson Lake and over a ridge to Upper Rock Lake. We landed at Stacie and Coral's favorite campsite, surrounded by water. The American Flag was hung and we began unpacking and setting up camp. Nothing like having your tent right next to the lake. Anna took a dip into the cold lake, but the rest of us chickened out. Stacie and Coral didn't live up to their "a must" tradition. For some reason Happy Hour began earlier then expected with beverages and fine foods. We then played the backpacking version of Scattergories. Laughter, "I need another beverage" and "What time is it" was echoing throughout the mountains that surrounded us. Dawn was the game winner! Steaks, chicken, bratwurst, potatoes and brussels spouts were cooked on the fire and superb! We enjoyed a night fire and bright stars! Nothing like a hot cup of coffee near a fire in the morning. Quietness, beauty and great company! A few of us went for a hike to Penner Lake, observing Shotgun lake afar. We packed up early to head home as the weather was changing and we didn't want to get stuck in a storm. Smart thinking ladies! Total miles: approximately 6.2
