Round Top Lake / Carson Pass

This was a spectacular hike. Fields of wildflowers, fantastic trail conditions and magnificent mountain ranges. Mark, Coral, Mike and Kevin started on the Carson Pass Trail / PCT. We passed Frog Lake, Winnemucca Lake, hiked over snowy mountain trails and landed our packs at Round Top Lake - 8,980'. Round Top Lake is surrounded by Round Top and Three Sisters mountains. Our campsite #2 was wonderful as it looked over Caples Lake and the distant mountain range. Mike and Coral did the climb to Round Top Peak, landing at about 10,100", falling just short of the 10,380' summit. The views were amazing. We took a short day hike toward 4th of July Lake, again having outstanding trail conditions and beauty beyond description. While relaxing at the lake, we watched risky snowboarders and skiers ski down Three Sisters mountains. We played rummy and had appetizers around our rock table and watched incredible sunsets. After our hike out, we enjoyed cheeseburgers and beers at the Kirkwood Cornice Grill. This certainly was a 5 Star backpacking trip!
